About This Fitness Music Store.

What and who is behind starting this fitness music store?
  • My name is Ryan. I am a 25 year old male. I have been lifting weights and exercising for the past 10 years. My love for fitness and bodybuilding began when I was in the 7th grade and found out that organized sports were returning to my middle school. I had never played in the youth leagues at my local playground but had always been a fan or sports, especially football. I was a good sized kid for my age. I was about 5'10" which immediately drew the attention of the new coaches at my school who were going around looking for kids to play for the team the next year. I didn't have much strength or speed though since I had only played pickup games recreationally and never trained for anything. When the opportunity came for me to be my first football team ever, I had the sense and the determination even at such a young age to want to make myself the best competitor I could be. I immediately knew that I wanted to start doing cardio to build my stamina and I wanted to lift weights. One day while walking home from school, I had noticed a health club. I had walked past this health club hundereds of times before and never noticed it. Now that I wanted to start working out, I finally noticed it and knew I had to get in there. I took it upon myself to walk in to the fitness center and talk to someone who worked there. At this point, I'm only 13 years old. The emplioyee for the gym said I would need to be acoompanied by an adult to be able to use the facility. This was impossible because I lived with a single mother who worked a lot. I didn't just bow my head and walk away. I explained my situation and that I was serious about what I wanted to do. What worked in my favor was a phone call to my mother who liked the idea of me wanting to join a health club and she was all for it. Given that I displayed a sense of maturity that was beyond my years, and the fact that I my mom would sign a lengthy and pricey contract, the empoyee did not want to turn me down. A few days later, I was a member or my local health club. Now I have a membership to the local gym, but, how would I get there everyday? Since my mom wasn't available for me during the week to give me rides, I would have to walk or ride my bike to the gym if I wanted to workout. I had a bike but it was always broken. So, this meant I would be walking about 2 and 1/2 miles to and from the gym each and every time I wanted to workout. That's a long walk in southeast Louisiana during the summer when the temperature outside can easily hit 100 degrees with high humidity. I asked my mom to buy me a new walkman and she agreed. Now, I had some music to listen to while I walked my way to the gym. Most times, I would listen to whatever was on the hit radio stations or I would listen to one of the few tapes that I had. This helped greatly. The beats in the music just seemed to make time fly. Also, instead of putting my walkman down when I got to the gym, I would keep it on and listen while I worked out. When a song came on that I really liked, I would wait for "the good part" and then really get a good set in. This is when I really started to realize the impact music can have when you're doing an activity. I stayed involved with sports throughout middle school and for the next four years in highschool. Music was always playing in my ears or playing from a boombox in my highschoool's weightroom. Groups like Prodigy, The Crystal Method, and Fatboy Slim had some great cds for the time that had hard hitting beats, synths and vocals perfect for motivation and increasing the intensity of my workouts. After highschool, organized sports were over for me but the passion for working out and staying fit lived on. I realized that when you have a nice body, it's out of the ordinary, and you get a lot of looks and attention from the opposite sex (and the same sex and that's okay if that's your thing :) ) During my college years, I had plenty of time to workout. And, during this time I still always listened to music. In my car while heading to the gym, on my headphones while working out, and again in my car while on the way home or wherever I was heading. By this time, I had started "going out" to dance clubs. The music I heard in theses clubs was unlike anything I had ever heard before. It was dance music. This is the good stuff that didn't get played on the radio and is commonly and incorrectly referred to as "techno". I loved it. I would have a good time and dance my ass off. I would always think, "damn. I would get a really good workout while listening to this.". This was right at the time when the internet was getting wildy popular and broadband connections where becoming available. This was also the time when electronic music started getting a lot more well known which made it easier for me to find and buy the latest electronic dance music like trance, and breaks (breakbeat) which were wildy popular in the south's club scene. I learned that if it pumped me up and made me want to dance then it was also what would make me feel good and get me pumped up at the gym.
  • The power of music
  • So now that you understand how important I think music is, maybe you'll have a better grasp for the passion that goes behind every second of music on this site. All of the music on here is original and intended for people who don't enjoy listening to whatever is playing over the Muzak or other music that is played throughout most health clubs nationwide. Most times, the music played in fitness centers around the nation is boring and repetititve. Health clubs have to play it safe when they choose what music plays across their facility. This usually means that pop music is the choice of tunes. Often times the music is also played at a very low volume. So, even if the music being played at your gym is something you like, you can't really hear it over the noise and chatter that fills the gym. You will notice a lot of people who are working out are wearing portable music players. The new models of portable cd players offer skip free music which is great ofr someone who is running, using a cardio machine, or lifting weights. Even more popular today are portable mp3 players like the RCA Lyra, the Apple Ipod, and the soon to be popular portable Microsoft media player. If you have a portable music player to bring with you to the gym, what kind of music do you have on it? There are plenty of music download services like Rhapsody and iTunes but they carry mostly mainstream music. If you're into high-energy dance music, you're not going to find much of it on these services. We offer great hi energy music to bring with you on your runs and while working out. With our personal workout mixes, you're going to get fresh beats that are hard hitting and uplifting. This will result in longer, more enjoyable workouts and a serious increase in workout intesity. Our personal workout mixes and fitness mixes are great for people who do intense training as well as less intense athletes who just need something enjoyable to listen to that will help them get through their workouts.
  • Attention Fitness Trainers
  • Are you an aerobics instructor in need of some good music that will help you teach your classes, keep your cardio class in step, motivate your spin classes, and will keep your students coming back for more? We provide awesome music for instructors which will help you cut down on preparation time and make your classes a blast. I've looked inside the cardio classes at several gyms and health clubs. I've noticed that the age range can be from 17 years old to 80 years old but the majority or the participants are somewhere between 20 and 35. After listening to the music being played while these cardio classes are in session, I noticed that the majority of the students weren't very motivated by the music being played. To be honest, I don't know anyone who wants to listen to "dance remixes" of Y.M.C.A. by the Village People or other songs like The Macarena. A lot of you instructors who are playing this lame music are going to find yourself losing money because there are a lot of people in your class who would rather not have to listen to an hour of lame music like that. I know it's not your fault all you trainers out there. It's basically due to a lack of modern cardio music that leads to the playing of such drab mixes. The other alternative is to put together your own mix of music for your classes. This can take lots of time and can be difficult. On top of that, if you put together a mix of your own music favorites, you're probably going to have a very drastic bpm (beats per minute) variation throught the mix which will make it hard to keep your class in synch. On top of that, most music has fade ins and fade outs as will as buildups and pauses that will completely throw your class for a loop. One last note about making your own mix of music is that you're probably going to run into a lot of vocals which will make you either have to turn the music down low so your class can hear your instructions or you'll leave the music up loud and your class won't hear you. The music we offer for cardio class instructors is job specific. This means it's tailor made for cardio classes like steop classes, kickboxing classes, etc. The beats are steady throughout with no break in the beat or the music. There are vocal samples to "pump" your class up and keep them moving but they're brief and won't interrupt you while you give your class their commands.
